Bio

Ahmet Serhat Hacıpaşalıoğlu (performing as Serhat) was born October 24, 1964 in Istanbul, Turkey. He attended a primary school in İcadiye, Üsküdar and then Deutsche Schule Istanbul (German High School) in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. He graduated from Faculty of Dentistry of Istanbul University in 1988.

Serhat has started his producing career by establishing his own company End Productions in 1994. In the same year, he also started to produce and host a quiz show on TRT called "Riziko!" (Turkish version of the American quiz show "Jeopardy!"). The show has been awarded with Altın Kelebek awards for Best Male Host and Best Quiz Show of the Year. Further shows, produced by the End Productions included Hedef 4 (Turkish version of Connect Four), Altına Hücum (Turkish version of Midas Touch), talk show "Serhat'la Rizikosuz", "Kalimerhaba" (Greece/Turkey).

With his company, he also organizes some annual events such as "National and International High Schools Music Contest" where he has been guiding and coaching talented 17 plus year olds with their music careers, Megahit - International Mediterranean Song Contest - which has been chosen as the "Most Accomplished Newcomer Festival 2003" by FIDOF and Dance Marathon competition. From 1999 on he participated at several music festivals both as a guest star and as a member of a jury in countries such as Malta, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova and Egypt.

Serhat has started his musical career in 1997, releasing single with two Turkish language songs "Rüya" and "Ben Bir Daha". In 2005, he released his second single named "Total Disguise", recorded in duet with the French female singer Viktor Lazlo. This song was selected by Radio Venture-New York as one of the most promising 20 songs of 2005 in the USA. The single also topped the charts in many European countries, especially Greece. Second track on the version of the single released in Greece was song "Chocolate Flavour" that has managed to stay at the top of the charts since its release date in January 2006 and became a popular hit in many European clubs. Lyrics for this song were written by Nektarios Tyrakis (lyricist of Shake It of Sakis Rouvas and Love Me Tonight of Angelica Agurbash).

After 2006, when they got acquainted at the "Slavic Bazaar" festival, Serhat was collaborating with Russian/Georgian singer Tamara Gverdtsiteli and they recorded "I Was So Lonely", "No No Never (Moscow-Instabul)" and "Ya + Ty" (Russian version of "Total Disguise") - these songs were released on Gverdtsiteli's album Vozdushiy Potsyelui (2008) - as well as romance"Dark Eyes". They also performed together in concerts in Moscow and at festivals in Belarus and Moldova. The last concert took place on May 2011 at the prestigious Kremlin Palace in Moscow. Speaking to the press in 2008, Tamara Gverdtsiteli has mentioned: "When we were recording with Serhat in Brussels, we indeed have got a proposal to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. However, neither me, nor him had any wish to perform there, and thus we've rejected it. However, journalists, as usual, have described it, as if we were already chosen. I do not have any ambition of performing at Eurovision - after I conqured "Slavic Bazar" there is no need of Eurovision for me".

Dancing has played an important role in Serhat's life, having studied across a broad range of different styles, including Latin American and Ballroom. For the period of 2 years he was the vice president of The Dance Sport Federation of Turkey. At the end of 2009, Serhat created a dance orchestra "Caprice the Show" with 18 musicians and made numerous performances in the following years. In 2014, Serhat started to work in France and Germany. On German label CAP Sounds, known for it's Eurovision related releases, Serhat released his new single, a French song called "Je M'Adore" (English version "I'm Movin' On) with the music video directed by Thierry Vergnes shot in Paris. The song composed by Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz (composer of "Şarkım Sevgi Üstüne" (Turkey 1987) and "Hani?" (Turkey 1982) and member of Nazar (Turkey 1978) and Nektarios Tyrakis has reached top spots in the internet charts of websites World-DJ.net and deutschedjcharts.de being featured in German/British/French/Swiss charts of DJ/Black/Pop/Dance categories.

Serhat has received "The FIDOF Annual Golden Transitional Media Ring of Friendship" 2003 in Cannes ansd 2006 in Belarus. In 2004 he was awarded for his international artistic career with the "Golden Key of the City Alexandria" in Egypt. He is also the recipient of the "Fair Play Grand Prize" awarded by the Turkish National Olympic Committee.

Serhat was announced Sammarinese representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 on 12 January 2016 at a press conference at SMRTV studios, attended by SMRTV Director Carlo Romeo and the Head of Delegation Alessandro Capicchioni. His entry "I Didn't Know" was presented on 9 March 2016 during a press conference held at the InterContinental Le Grand Hotel in Paris, where the music video for the song was also filmed.

The process of choosing the fifth artist representing the Republic of San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 started back in 2015. As per many years, San Marino RTV received many mails from singers, composers and producers willing to join the Eurovision with the smallest participating broadcaster. Among those, an European production company highlighted an artist that last autumn was having an out-breaking success in the German and English DJ and Dance charts. The breathtaking escalade took our singer to the first position in Germany and to the second in the UK. So the TV decided to contact the artist and to check his interest in the Eurovision. The answer is here: Serhat will be our singer for Sweden. His unexpected knowledge of the contest and international music world surprised us and we were also hit by the beauty of the song and of the project, coordinated by Italian company 23 Music. But it was undoubtedly persuading his perfectionist style and his outstanding, unceasing, creative passion for the music and for the Eurovision.

Serhat fully represents the new Europe: Turkish born with a German education in his home city Istanbul; he has many experiences in Germany, Greece and France. To represent the Republic of San Marino is another of his artistic career challenges. The team behind "I Didn't Know" is a multinational one: The composer of the song, Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz is from Turkey and the lyricist is Nektarios Tyrakis from Greece; both with previous experiences at Eurovision Song Contest. The French musician Cyril Orcel is the arranger of the song, which was recorded in Piste Rouge studio in Bruxelles, the studio with which Serhat is collaborating for last ten years. The Italian version of the song, "Non ero io", has been written by Mariella Nava, one of the most prestigious Italian singers/composers with many huge collaborations in Italy and abroad. The French version, "Comment Savoir" has been penned by Stéphane Laporte. In addition to the ESC version, there will also be several remixes with different target groups. The record label is the German based company "Cap-Sounds", which has already some experiences in the ESC field. The whole artistic team is guided by Manfred Thierry Mugler, who is the Concept and Creative Director of the San Marino entry, as well as the director of the video for "I Didn't Know".

Composer Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz was one of the members of Group Nazar, who represented Turkey for ESC in Paris, 1978 and in 1982 he was both the composer and lyricist (as well as one of the backing vocalists) of the song "Hani" that represented Turkey in Harrogate, UK. He came 2nd in the Turkish Eurovision contest in 1985 and in 1986, he was one of the 2 equal vote winners. In 1987, he was the winner again as composer and lyricist of "Şarkım Sevgi Üstüne", which represented Turkey in Brussels, Belgium. After 1987 he continued with his business of event organizations working with Top Models like Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Elle Mac Pherson, Eva Herzigova , Karen Mulder and many others. When Serhat offered him cooperation in a path to mutual success in Europe and the world, he took the opportunity to return to music professionally. Their first single Total Disguise, for which he wrote the lyrics and the music, was almost an overnight success and this motivated them both to go on for even bigger successes. Then came Chocolate Flavour and "I'm Movin' On" recorded and released in French as "Je M'adore", which reached the no. 2 in the British Dance Charts and no.1 in the German for several weeks. He quotes "Some years ago, right after we first began our successful musical collaboration with Serhat through the song ‘Total Disguise' (for which I wrote the lyrics and music), Serhat told me about a Greek lyricist and mailed me some of his lyrics. I sat down and at that very first moment - in no more than 5 minutes - wrote the music for the song "Chocolate Flavour" with Nektarios' lyrics. After that, I wrote many more songs which have not yet been published yet, in exactly the same way. I composed "Je M'adore", , also with the English lyrics by Nektarios, which he named "I'm Movin On" and that was the final proof to show us we are on the right path. So, when it was time for the Eurovision Song Contest, we did not hesitate for a moment to write a song with again lyrics by him and that's how "I Didn't Know" was created. The interesting side of this lyricist/composer cooperation is that Nektarios and I have never yet met each other in person".

Nektarios Tyrakisis is a well-known lyricist in Greece, receiving many gold and platinum discs. He was born on the 11 of July 1971 and music was his first love; and indeed it will be his last. After simultaneously studying Communication, Media and Culture at Panteion University, he entered the music industry in 1991 and since then, for 25 years he has worked in all the Greek record companies. Currently, Nektarios is the International A&R and Marketing Manager at Warner Music Greece. He first watched the Eurovision Song Contest at the age of 6 and it seems that it was love at first sight! While he was in his teens, he promised himself and his friends that one day he would take part in Eurovision and his dream came true in 2004 when he wrote the lyrics for the Greek Entry "Shake It", which achieved 3rd place. In 2005 wrote the lyrics for the Belarusian entry "Love Me Tonight". In 2012 wrote the English lyrics ("Pure Love") for Slovenia's Eurovision entry "Verjamen". In 2016 he has the honour to be the lyricist of the San Marino Eurovision entry "I Didn't Know", sung by Serhat, whom he regards as his "spiritual brother". He quotes "Serhat, is not only a multi talented artist who I deeply respect and admire. Serhat is like a brother to me… The brother who I didn't have the chance to have in my life. Serhat has proved, in every possible and impossible way that he is here for me, no matter what…The lyrics of the song are talking about a flourishing love… A love that grows first into our imagination and without our knowledge or permission can become a love that consumes our whole being. As Theodore Dreiser once said: “I believe in the compelling power of love. I do not understand it. I believe it to be the most fragrant blossom of all this thorny existence".

Mariella Nava is one of the most talented and appreciated singers/songwriters in Italy. Thanks the deep intensity of her lyrics and the impressive touch of her compositions, she wrote songs for Italian artists like Mina, Andrea Bocelli, Mia Martini, Gianni Morandi, Renato Zero, LoredanaBertè, Ornella Vanoni, Lucio Dalla, just to mention few names, and for International names like Grace Jones, Dionne Warwick and Amii Stewart. She had an artistic collaboration with Luis Bacalov, Oscar Award, and she wrote the Italian lyrics of "I didn't know", in the Italian version "Non ero io". "I met Serhat through Internet thanks his video clips that had many views. I became curious and wanted to learn more about his music style. When Marco Vannuzzi, his manager, proposed me to think about the lyrics in my language for the song to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, I have immediately accepted the invitation with enthusiasm. I have listened to the song and it has been really simple to me to come in that mood. I have followed the emotional wave of the song, trying to respect the sense of the original English lyrics: a man who is tenderly declaring that he did not know until then to be able to love so intensely the woman in front of him. I have tried a right cadence of the Italian words to express the same idea of a man who is offering himself through an immense love, discovered, revealed, confessed, whispered. I have laid down the lyrics on an elegant and confidential music, with warm tones, like warm, deep and engaging are the voice and the interpretation of Serhat. This is how was born "Non ero io".

Manfred T. Mugler certainly does not need any kind of introduction. Through his worldwide career successes, he is one of the real artistic living legends. Following his collaborations with International star names such as Beyoncé and George Michael; and the huge stage productions like Cirque du Soleil's "Zumanity" in Las Vegas and "The Wyld" at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin, he is now the Creative and Concept Director of Serhat's artistic project for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Manfred T. Mugler is also the Director of the official music video of "I Didn't Know", which was shot in Paris with a team of 37 people. Through this music video, Mugler creates a new image for Serhat: A man with strong roots from the ancient past, but projected into the next future. A ‘new dandy' of the 21st Century with a profile recalling the history and an eye looking at the new world. "The idea of Mr Mugler to show a new facet of a man like Serhat was really interesting. The reinterpretation of a dandy into a modern conqueror but also a sensitive man fits perfectly the timeless and powerful Mugler style. So we worked very closely to show the best of Serhat, including a totally fresh and masculine ornament for the head which was the very first original key concept of Mr Mugler, in total adequacy with the song", says Stefano Canulli - art Director & costume designer.

Serhat premiered the song "I Didn't Know" at a press conference held on 9 March at the Grand Hotel Intercontinental in Paris. According to the singer, the follow-up single is already recorded and the work under the international album is getting to the finish line. Serhat, who admits being Eurovision fan, says he is perfectionist, fighter and team player, while his entry is romantic and sincere.

Lia Fiorio and Gigi Restivo will once again be commentators of Eurovision on both TV and radio. Winner of the show I talenti dei Castelli 20-years old rapper Lorenzo Salvatori, aka Irol MC will announce result of Sammarinese jury vote.

Interview

Our next guest is singer Serhat who is repsenting San Marino at this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Of course, we have asked how did it happen that Turkish star was chosen to represent the Republic. "It is really a unique and unusual story. San Marino TV paid attention to the success of my latest single "Je M’adore" at international dance and DJ charts. They contacted my Italian manager Marco Vannuzzi because of ESC. As Marco told me about the possible collaboration I was surprised too. But at our meetings I was totally convinced by the idea. So we made our plans, fixed the targets. Now I am very glad and honoured to be a part of this collaboration and to represent San Marino", says Serhat.

At the Eurovision Song Contest he will be performing the song "I Didn't Know" which he describes as "storm of sincere emotions". "After I got the proposal of San Marino TV, I was sure about my song choice. It was from the beginning on "I didn't know" This song is written some years ago by Turkish composer Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz and Greek lyricist Nektarios Tyrakis especially for me. I had several good songs already produced for my forthcoming album, but I wanted "I didn't know", because it is a very personal song for me", reveals the singer. "Olcayto and Nektarios are not only my team, they are like my family. Older and younger brothers. We have been working since 2003 together. I always get their opinions in each step. They are musicians with experience", he adds about his colleagues.

Several versions of the song were produced and, already after the end of the official submission period, it was announced that Disco remix has been chosen as the performance version for Stockholm. "We, all artists, are thinking how to make our audience happy with our music and how much love we can get from them. That means, fans, audience they all are very important for any artist. I made the decision to sing the disco version on the stage because I believe ESC is a contest existing with its fans. We all are singing especially for them. Euro fans liked the disco version a lot and sent me numerous messages, e-mails asking me to sing the disco version on stage. I love my fans and I always consider the opinion of them; I did same at my decision for Stockholm", singer explains.

We have asked Serhat about the music video that was produced for the original version of "I Didn't Know", which had to be replaced as well. "The video idea is by Manfred Thierry Mugler, a legendary name in fashion world. He worked with George Michael and Beyonce before me. It was a great experience for me to cooperate with a name like Mugler. He is always beyond our times. We wanted to do sth different, unusual and we did it. It may be surprised the Eurovision Fans because it was a challenge itself. Mugler described our video with his words: "A man with strong roots in the ancient past but projected in the next future. A new dandy of the next Century with a profile recalling the history and an eye looking at the new world. For the music video I directed, I have developed for Serhat a new vision of a man : a fun Dandy attitude, sophisticated, strong, but also charming and touching". As we decided to perform the disco version on stage, we created a new video. Concept has changed. The one for the ballad version will be used after Eurovision Song Contest for promotion for sure. Especially from American music market we got very positive feedback and as far as we have remixes from the names like Mike Rizzo or Richard Cutmore, we plan to make a new director’s cut of the video for remixes. If I use this image on stage, you will see it on May 10 :)"

"We don’t need to forget that ESC is not a video contest. Each singer has to sing his song live with a different staging to impress the audience. That’s why the real competition will be first on May 10 and 12 on the stage"

Serhat has also recorded Italian and French versions of his entry, and we've asked if any more are coming, and is there a chance to listen to Russian version? "I like to sing in different languages. We made Italian version “Non ero io” with lyrics of Mariella Nava, and French version with lyrics of Stephane Laporte. I am very satisfied with both of them . Each language gives another atmosphere to this song. We already finished the deals with different music markets in the world. They all will be released after Eurovision Song Contest. But for the Euro Fans we will have a limited edition including these versions. Different languages are a challenge too. Especially if you don’t speak the language. But if you work on it seriously, you can make it. I enjoyed a lot performing in different languages in the studio. Russian is also a very nice but difficult language. I know it because I sang in Russian. :) It was a big experience. For the future I will be delighted to perform "I didn't know" in Russian".

We have also spoken with Serhat about his collaborations with singer Tamara Gverdtsiteli. At that time, she said them as a duet were proposed to perform for Russia at Eurovision. "With Tamara I had a great collaboration. She is for me one of the most talented singers in the world. We recorded 3 songs in English and Russian and gave concerts in Moscow, Belarus and Moldova. At that time there was such discussions about the participation at Eurovision Song Contest. But as far as I can remember it didn’t develop to a serious proposal", Serhat explained. Since a lot of his previous hits were male/female duets, we've asked if he is feeling comfortable singing solo on Eurovision stage and he respondes: "I feel very comfortable. My collaborations with Viktor Lazlo and Tamara Gverdtsiteli were fantastic experiences and we had great songs. But to be honest it’s very difficult to sing in duet. There are so many details which have to fit both artists. As soloist I am more free in musical choices".

At this moment singer could not reveal any information related to the stage presentation, noting that "after deciding to perform the disco version on stage, we had to change our almost finished staging too. We are still working on it. I trust my team and guarantee you a memorable 3 minutes in Stockholm". However, certainly he will be joined on the stage by the backing vocal group, which has been already assembled: "They are a very talented international team, based in Paris. We will introduce them soon", promises Serhat.

"If you participate a contest, you must be ready for any result. There are 43 countries and each of them wants to win. Of course I am one of them. I believe in me and in my song. The time we spent for production and promotion is important but not the criteria of winning chances"

We've asked him what is the most difficult thing in Eurovision preparations? "In the beginning I was thinking the production part is the most difficult part of it. Now I changed my mind. If you make a real promo tour, this is more difficult than production because of limited times and several organization problems. If I wouldn’t live in Istanbul it would be not easy for me because so many countries, even they are neighbours, they don’t have direct flights to each other. Anyway promotion and visiting countries are exciting but very tiring at the same time".

Currently singer is on the extensive promotional tour, and has already visited Baku, Tbilisi, Podgorica and Belgrade. "I enjoyed this first part very much. Will continue with Sarajevo, Malta, Athens, Skopje and Tirana. Time is so limited I hope I can finish all.If I had time I could visit all 42 countries. It’s such an experience. I wish I could participate Eurovision Pre-parties. But unfortunately limited time is not giving the chance to make it all". Serhat says finally he had the time to listen to all of the entries. "It seems to be very exciting this year. I appreciate very much the countries they try new styles, different music directions at ESC. To be able to say my highlights I must listen and watch all of them live on stage. As I told you before, this is not a video contest :)".

Serhat promised us that the follow-up single will be released in September, and his album is ready as well. "We are working on the details of its new video. If you know my music direction, there will be not a big change. There will be ballads and dance songs in my style. "I didn’t know" is one example of this style". His message to all the readers is:

"Thanks to all fans and readers if they could read all till the end because this is one of the longest interviews I’ve given for ESC 2016. :) Thanks for their patience :) The rest is traditional but coming from my heart :) Hope we all enjoy ESC 2016 and share unforgettable moments. And of course dance with "I didn’t know"…

Representative of San Marino in this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Serhat Hadžipašalioglu, has visited Montenegro, where he took part in the joint press-conference with the representatives of this country band Highway.

Serhat told press that he has double responsibility representing the two countries on a biggest stage of Europe. "It is for me a great appreciation, but also an obligation, because Turkey is not taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest. It means that as a Turkish singer have a double responsibility, because I will represent San Marino, but Turkey too will be with me on stage," said Hadžipašalioglu. He also revealed that he has received the full support of his fellow citizens, which is, as he points out, a great privilege. "After I was chosen as the representative for San Marino, we had press-conference in both San Marino and Turkey. I'm happy that people of my country reacted very well and supported my decision to represent San Marino. It is a privilege that I have support of my country people", said Hadžipašalioglu.

He praised the song "The Real Thing" of the Montenegrin representatives, the group "Highway", calling it 'special' and wished them good luck in the competition. "In my career I always paid attention and supported different things. I do not like the 'copy-paste' music. I like the 'Highway' genuine style and that they are offering a different track to Europe. As you know, often at the Eurovision Song Contest there are generally similar songs. This is a great opportunity that bring something new to the contest. Therefore, I have a lot of respect for your decision to select this song, and I'm very glad you stayed true to your style. I hope we can all have a good time in Stockholm", he concluded.

Serhat, this year's San Marino entry at Eurovision with 'I didn't know' is working hard towards Stockholm. He has left today to Baku Azerbaijan to kick off his promotional tour which will lead him to various countries like Georgia, Greece, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia & Malta amongst others.

This Sunday Serhat will be also part of the Rai Radioprogramme 'Caterpillar' on Radio 2 during the show 'Radiobattle'. Radiobattle is a radio programme created by the second Rai radio channel 'Radio 2' by Filippo Solibello, historical conductor of the Rai radio programme 'Caterpillar'. You can also call it the 'European Championship' of the radios. 16 European national radios are taking part, plus Australia, right, just as the Eurovision. This is the second edition and last year it ended up with a global audience of millions of listeners from Europe, Asia and Oceania. It is broadcast every Sunday from 8 to 9 pm. San Marino RTV is also taking part this year.

The 16 participating countries compete against each other and the winner goes to the next step. The competition flows by airing five songs from each country which have to be related to that country. For example among songs of San Marino were the sammarinese Delayers, Valentina (yes, the ESC legend) and Serhat with 'Je m'adore'. On February 14th San Marino won against Lithuania and now is going to compete against Slovenia which is said to be a much harder challenger. This time, among the others, San Marino will use their Eurovision entry 'I didn't know'. The winner between the twos will go to thesemifinals. But how can one vote? By simply tweeting '#radiobattleSM' during the whole lenghth of the live show, from 8 to 9 pm on Sunday March 27th.

The programme has a web site, of course, which you can find here. You can listen to the previous battles or to the live show. Another useful link to listen to the programme is the Rai link to the live broadcast. Support Serhat and San Marino during this show sunday between 8 and 9pm CET!

9th March 'I Didn't Know', the 2016 San Marino entry for Eurovision by Serhat was presented in Paris with a video directed by Manfred Thierry Mugler.

The video has already received an astonishing a quarter of a million views. However there was also great feedback specifically for the disco version, which was released last week. San Marino RTV and its artistic partners have taken into consideration the great feedback from Eurovision media and fans and have opted performing this version in Stockholm.

An official request was made to the EBU and the reference group who have now granted this request.

Italian singer Arisa, who has qualified to the top 10 of San Remo festival this year with "Guardando il cielo" speaking on the program "Sociopatici" on Radio 2 declared her interest to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. "I appeal to the Republic of San Marino to send me to the Eurovision Song Contest. I would really like to get there, so I would be happy to represent them and sing in Italian," said the popular singer.

Unfortunately, Director General of San Marino RTV Carlo Romeo had to reject her offer, at least for this year: "Thank you, Arisa. It would be nice and important to have you with us and we're pleased to hear about your interest. As it is already however known, we have chosen three months ago singer Serhat to share this beautiful challenge with us - participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Serhat is a great artist and a great friend for us and we'll stick with him on our way to Stockholm".

Shooting of the music video for Sammarinese entry takes place in Paris. Music video is directed by Manfred Thierry Mugler – Concept and Creative Director of the San Marino entry and will be revealed in a press conference to be held at the Le Grand Hotel International in Paris on March 9th at 3pm.

Find out more about Thierry Mugler here.

"I am delighted to collaborate with Serhat and to accompany him on all levels of creation on this exciting project that is the Eurovision. For the music video I just directed, I have developed for him a new vision of a man : a fun Dandy attitude, sophisticated, strong, but also charming and touching", says Manfred T. Mugler

Representatives of the delegation of San Marino have provided us further comments from RTV San Marino CEO Carlo Romeo.

"Through the new rules released by the EBU, the discrimination towards San Marino has become officially formalized. Unlike all the other participating countries, our citizens won't have the same voting rights as those citizens. That is to say, 50% of the San Marino vote will be decided by the Sammarinese while the remaining 50% will be decided by some other countries. This decision by the EBU comes after three years of internal discussion, during which we've never been involved nor at least informed", he has stated.

At the same time, Romeo confirms that the disagreement will not have consequences on the Sammarinese participation this year: "At this point everything has already started and Serhat is an amazing artist, representative and travel companion; we'll finish with him what we have started with him. Artists are not part of this unpleasant story made up of arrogance and little institutional fairness". However, he highlights he will not be attending the event in Stockholm himself now. "It's not usual for me to go to the Eurovision Song Contest as the TV president, even though this year I personally promised Serhat to be there with the rest of the delegation. At this point I am sorry to say I see no reason for me to be in Stockholm after such off-hand behavior and so, for what it's worth, I am not going to attend. I'm used to keep my promises, but Serhat will surely understand. If we cannot get a safeguard (which should be due, in my opinion) as one of the Small States, we at least ask for some respect".

The question everyone is interested in is whether San Marino will keep further involvement in the competition if the new rules stay? "The board of the TV will decide. In the worst case, we wouldn't be the first ones to withdraw from the contest", says Carlo Romeo.

San Marino RTV: "EBU, new rules but old behaviour. This is unacceptable"

Considered the recently announced changes in the voting system of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, the Director General of San Marino RTV Mr. Carlo Romeo stated the following:

"Small States are, once again, discriminated. Not only, now the discrimination is even formalized. This is barely tolerable and the San Marino national Radio and Television is unsure whether it can tolerate it next year too. It is unbearable that certain decisions are simply communicated and not shared with the involved broadcasters. That said, this is, from our point of view, unacceptable"

He went to explain that the change affects San Marino that lacks the ability to set up the televoting for both technical reasons as well as the reason of statistical validity linked to the small population of the country. From this year, the decision expressed by the local jury, will be accompanied by the decision of televoting of group of countries calculated as the televoting of San Marino, of which no one knows the precise number (4 or 5?) or what they exactly will be and how it will be counted. Thus, San Marino has the right to express only 50% of its votes while the new rules pass the remaining 50% of the votes of the country to the viewers in some other, unspecified, countries.

Dave Goodman, the Senior Communications Officer at the European Broadcasting Union, responded saying: "We have, to date, not been approached by SMRTV. We are of course interested to hear their view and to further clarify the new voting format. We would like to reiterate that this decision was taken by the Reference Group and the TV Committee, in line with agreed procedures".

San Marino RTV has revealed the multinational team behind Serhat and San Marino's participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

The composer of the song is the Turkish Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz while the lyrics are penned by the Greek Nektarios Tyrakis. They both have worked with Serhat in the past and have Eurovision experience as well: Olcayto took part 3 times in the International Eurovision Finals as songwriter of "Şarkım Sevgi Üstüne" (Turkey 1987) and "Hani?" (Turkey 1982) and member of Nazar (Turkey 1978). Nektarios wrote the lyrics for "Shake It", Sakis Rouvas' entry that reached the 3rd place in 2004 and the year after he was also the lyricist for the entry of Angelica Agurbash for Belarus.

The San Marino song is being recorded at the Piste Rouge Studios in Brussels, arranged by the French musician Cyril Orcel who worked in France, Belgium and the United States, especially as composer for symphonical /classical music. The Belgian-African musician Guy Waku will also collaborate in future arrangements of the song.

Along with the English version there will be versions in Italian, French and other languages in collaboration with international renowned names. The Italian lyrics are written by Mariella Nava, one of the most appreciated Italian composers and lyricists for her brilliant melodies and for the deep intensity of her lyrics. Many artists performed her songs, among whom Andrea Bocelli, Mina, Loredana Bertè, Mia Martini, Gianni Morandi, Grace Jones, Dionne Warwick and many others. The French lyrics are written by Stéphane Laporte, author of the French versions of musicals such as Wizard of Oz, Shrek The Musical, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Fiddler On The Roof and Grease.

Multinational project is completed by Italian management of Turkish singer Serhat and the German label who all are taking part for San Marino in this exciting adventure. "We all came here together", stated MarcoVannuzzi of 23 Music referring to the theme of the Swedish Eurovision edition. Serhat, who is being referred to as "The Noble Knight of San Marino" by the media, is in the process of recording the San Marino entry that is going to be released within the beginning of March.

Preselection

RTV San Marino has confirmed it's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in September. In the interview head of delegation Alessandro Capicchioni noted that preselection will again be internal:

"As always, not having specific TV programs whose winners are automatically qualified to the Eurovision, we must take full responsibility for the choice ourselves. We choose between those that seem the most solid, the most prestigious, the most valuable and important productions with partners, who are able to cooperate with us on such an international showcase as the Eurovision Song Contest, which is extremely difficult and challenging"

Representative of San-Marino at the contest will be presented on a special press-conference on 12 January at 11:00 CET attended by Director of the broadcaster Carlo Romero and head of delegation Alessandro Capicchioni. It will be broadcasted online on San Marino RTV website. It is believed that following successful practice of Junior Eurovision 2015, San Marino will present at the contest international project. Chosen artists is described as "established professional, a name certainly already known in Europe".

DJ/Black/Pop/Dance.

Затем настала очередь Chocolate Flavour и "I'm Movin' On", записанной и выпущенной на французском языке как "Je M'Adore", которая достигла 2й строчки в британских танцевальных чартах и 1й строчки в немецких.

Она сотрудничала с Луисом Бакаловым, церемонией Оскар, и написала итальянскую версию песни "I Don't Know" - "Non ero io".

Серхат представил свою конкурсную песню "I Didn't Know" на пресс-конференции, прошедшей 9го марта в Grand Hotel Intercontinental в Париже.

С самого начала я делал ставку на "I Didn't Know".

"I Didn't Know" - пример этого стиля".

И, конечно, танцуйте под "I Didn't Know"

Wizard of Oz, Shrek The Musical, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Fiddler On The Roof и Grease.
