Gabriela was ranked 28th in the annual survey Český slavík 2011 in the singers category, becoming also "Major Breakthrough". On 28 November 2011 she released her debut album Dvojí tvář, which after the first week of sales entered in the top 10 of the national album chart. In early 2012 she has performed in the musical Kleopatra. On 30 May 2013 she has released her second album Celkem jiná, which was considerably more sophisticated and Gabriela herself was the author of some songs. She has parted her way with her management after the release due to the disagreement in the music and promotional directions proposed.

In the second half of 2013 Gabriela has contacted one of the most famous vocal coaches in the world Ken Tamplin, who after watching some of her performance videos agreed to cooperation, which in the beginning was carried out via Skype. When Ken saw the tremendous progress, he decided to invite Gabriela to California, where they recorded together several high-quality videos in which are represented different genres of music and singing techniques. So Gabriela has become the face of Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy, as one of his best students at the global level.

Her Youtube videos have been viewed by thousands of viewers from around the world and in 2014 Paul O'Neill from band Trans-Siberian Orchestra contacted her with a proposal of cooperation. At the end of the same year singer gave about 60 concerts with the band across the US West coast alongside such names as Al Pitrelli, Vitalij Kuprij and Jeff Scott Soto. She continued singing with the band in 2015, appearing at their Winter tour on the West Coast. "Someday", "Not The Same" and "The Night Conceives" being among the songs of Trans-Siberian Orchestra where she lead. In November 2015 she joined Rock Meets Classic project as vocalist for Mat Sinner Band, including Primal Fear members Mat Sinner and Alex Beyrodt (guitars), and also featuring Avantasia's Oliver Hartmann (guitars) and will perform with it on tour of Germany on 30 March - 17 April.

"I respect ethical values in life, I believe that we are more than just a body, and I want to make music to inspire others", says Gabriela about herself.

On 17 February Gunčíková has announced working on a special project in Stockholm with songwriters Sara Biglert and Christian Schneider - songwriting team that had seven entries in Lithuanian preselection 2014, competed in Malta this year with Brooke and in 2015 with Domenique. On 11 March it was announced that the five-member jury (made of producer Jan Maxián, music journalists Honza Dědek and Jaroslav Špulák, singer and musiician Michal Kocáb and last year's entrant Václav Noid Bárta), along with Czech Television chose Gabriela Gunčíková with the song "I Stand" for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Music video for "I Stand", presented on 12 March, has been directed by Uroš Trefalt, who will be Art director of Czech Eurovision delegation this year. He is joined by Creative producer Jan Potměšil and Costume designer Pavel Ivančic. Eurovision semifinals will be broadcasted on ČT 2, and grand final on ČT 1, with commentary of former Eurovision Young Dancers host Libor Bouček.

Gabriela is looking forward to the trip to Stockholm and it is a great honour and commitment for her to represent the Czech Republic. She grew up with bands such as Europe, Roxette and ABBA, is learning Swedish and loves Swedish cuisine.

"After a while I am coming back to my homecountry to represent us at the Eurovision Song Contest. For me it is especially a great honor. This competition has a great history, and it is the only project in the world of such a dimension that focuses on musical joust countries throughout Europe. It's like the European Cup in sports competitions, but here it is the best song and its presentation It is amazing opportunity to represent my country and also introduce myself and my vision to the audience and make them feel better and entertain them. This is like a completely new journey and level for me because I always wanted to sing a "big movie" soundtrack. I am coming to learn about different cultures, countries and their traditions"

Christian Schneider & Sara Biglert have been working as a team for fifteen years and run their own recording studio in Stockholm, where they jointly compose music and seek out young talented artists. They are the holders of multiple platinum and gold discs of Swedish artists, such as the composition FOR THE BETTER from an album by Robin Stjenberg. Together with Aidan O’Connor they have more than ten songs for Eurovision to their name since 2013. "The song was written in the spring of 2015. We had for some time stuck in our creation, were taking part in a wrong kind of project where we more or less lost ourselves. So one day we sat at our piano with the attitude that "now we should write something from the heart" and then came "The Stand", says of songwriters Christian Schneider. "I stand" also has its dark side. The heroine looks back on the past when life was hard and she had to fight a lot. But the overall message is a positive one, full of energy and gratitude. Gabriela and her voice have brought the whole song to life. We're also delighted that we’ll be appearing as the writer of a song which will represent the Czech Republic in the city where we live", adds Sara Biglert on their entry for the contest.

Lyricist Aidan O'Connor lives in Dublin. He literally lives for Eurovision, having co-written twenty-five songs for the contest which have competed in countries such as Switzerland and Malta. This year he and Sara and Christian have composed the song GOLDEN, which finished in second place in the Maltese national Eurovision round and is a current number one on iTunes and Spotify. "I've been a fan of the contest since I was a child and to be a part of it was my lifelong dream. I’m very pleased that the Czech Republic chose our team and I hope that we won't be disgraced in Stockholm. The lyrics of "I stand" are a strong personal statement. I’m very proud of the fact that it is being performed by such a talented person as Gabriela". "We were told that the song was selected in the mid-February, so it we had to act quick to produce and record the song with Gabriela. The news that they have chosen our song came as a surprise and we're obviously very excited about this opportunity and look forward to take part in Eurovision in Stockholm", adds Sara Biglert. "We have been trying to reach Eurovision for a while, and we were close on several occasions so obviously we are so incredibly grateful and happy that we finally get the chance to showcase our music to the whole of Europe", says Christian Schneider.

Jan Potměšil – creative producer in charge of the Eurovision Song Contest: "Just like last year, the choice of song and performer involved a panel of experts. From more than forty songs, the choice was narrowed down to three compositions, two Czech and one from a foreign composer, "I stand", which became the eventual winner. As an artist, we’ve selected a singer who has great experience from abroad behind her and who, above all, possesses an amazing vocal range. Together with the music's composer, Gabriela Gunčíková managed to further improve the song and her professional approach convinced us that she is the right choice for this exceptional occasion. I believe that not only Gabriela, but also the entire creation and realisation teams will do their utmost to represent Česká televize and the Czech Republic with dignity".

Jan Bors – Head of delegation. Bors works for Česká televize as head script editor for the biggest entertainment formats and events. The last two years of the successful dance competition Star Dance took place under his leadership and he also dedicates himself to charity projects such as “Pomozte dětem” (Help Children). "The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the biggest challenges in the field of entertainment creation. That’s why we are placing emphasis on all aspects of our performance in Stockholm. Together with the creative team, we are concentrating on an aesthetic combination of the music, video clip and the live performance itself. We approached seasoned professionals to collaborate with us. Our aim is to convince viewers that the Czech Republic is also capable of staging a performance on a European level".

Uroš Trefalt – Art Director. During his studies Trefalt focused on theatre, which he also studied abroad. To this day he is fascinated by short farce. He has created many well-known campaigns and is a multiple recipient of a prestigious award from the television design contest Promax/BDA. "During preparation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 my team and I have put in a great deal of hard work. I’m convinced, however, that thanks to this we will successfully contribute towards improving perceptions of the competition".

Pavel Ivančic – Costume Designer. Fashion designer who is a head of the Fashion Design Studio at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague and a graduate of Central Saint Martins in London. The top award he received for The Last Fata Morgana exhibition presented at the International Fashion Showcase in London was his last major success. "I'm fascinated by crowd psychology of Eurovision Song Contest. The crowd can sense real quality. For me it's a wonderful opportunity and challenge to get feedback from a worldwide audience. I admire Gabriela Gunčíková - her talent, personality, inner discipline and commitment"

Libor Bouček – Live Broadcast Commentator. The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will certainly not be Bouček’s first experience of presenting a spectacular show. After all, participating at Eurovision is nothing new to him – last year he presented Eurovision Young Dancers, an offshoot of the competition. He is well-versed in the music scene, and will be presenting the 25th anniversary edition of the "Anděl" awards. Thanks to this and his professionalism, he will bring the atmosphere of this European music competition to viewers directly from Stockholm. "The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most watched and successful world shows. Just being a part of it, seeing the crowds of people and the show will be an unbelievable experience. What's more, I think that this year we have a truly interesting representative who could surprise everyone. I think that Gabriela has the talent to get to the final, she certainly does"

Česká televize has published official questions and answers with the Czech representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 Gabriela Gunčíková.

- How do you feel in the role of representative of the Czech Republic? Why is it important to you personally and what is your aim?
- I feel very comfortable in the role and I think that our team has everything firmly in hand. It's my first time back home in the Czech Republic after a long time and it's a fantastic opportunity to build on the abilities that I've acquired abroad. Our aim at Eurovision is definitely to get to the final and to win it.

- The Eurovision Song Contest is also a huge show with a large viewership. What do you think are the factors that determine the winner?
- Certainly the quality of the song and its interpretation, but I'd say that's only fifty percent of it. The rest is the performance, which means engaging viewers visually, making it interesting to the eye and showing them something that is memorable and that they haven't seen before.

- Do you think that winning the contest can change the winner's life?
- I think that Eurovision is a little more similar to singing competitions. It's a fantastic opportunity to showcase your art to the whole world as well as to present your country, but after victory as an artist you have to constantly work, work on yourself and to produce more great songs so that you don't become forgotten. Eurovision certainly changes a singer's life in as much as it opens doors to other countries which they can work in.

- In the contest you will be performing the song "I stand" written by Irish and Swedish composers. In what way did the song appeal to you?
- What appealed to me most of all was the melody and emotion which was put into it. When they first sent it to me, I imagined what it would be like to sing it live in front of such a big audience. I felt that if I could put a piece of myself into it, then it could be absolutely fantastic. As soon as I gave a nod to the offer, we flew to Sweden and focused on reworking the song's arrangement, so we could highlight and underline the parts of it which were the most exceptional, and I think we've done a good job.

- This year's contest is considered to be very strong, full of quality songs and interesting performers. Have you looked into any of the other participants in the contest? How do you perceive the competition?
- Yes, I've looked into them. Each one of them is very distinctive and original in some way. How do I perceive the competition? I'd say that so far I don’t. We'll see at the time. At the moment the team and I are giving our attention to creating something original in itself and from our ideas. Then we'll be able to weigh up the competition.

- In what way do you feel different from the competition? How would you describe yourself as a singer?
- I've never heard a similar genre of song to "I stand" before. The songs are largely aimed at a world dominated by pop music, but our song has a film character and sound, and that's the way I wanted to go. In the same way, we also managed to find a slightly different path for the video clip.

- You are constantly working on your voice and you can boast the largest vocal range on the Czech pop music scene. What position is most natural for you?
- Yes, I study at the Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy and work on myself whenever time allows. In just a few years I've made unbelievable advances in voice techniques. It's rather hard to say where I feel most comfortable, because my aim has mostly been to become the most flexible singer I can, which means singing anything from metal to opera. And I enjoy that immensely.

- This year the contest is going to be held in Stockholm. Are you preparing in any special way for the Swedish audience? What do you think they respond to the most? What are you looking forward to the most?
- I'm not preparing in any kind of special way. The most important thing is to be my natural self, but I do plan to learn a few Swedish phrases. I think they'll respond to the quality and ease, which we'll try to bring to Eurovision with our song and, at the same time, I think the message of the song itself will speak to them. Most of all I'm looking forward to discovering a new city, customs, people and culture and to gaining new experience.

Music video of "I Stand" of Gabriela Gunčíková was presented earlier today on Super.cz website.

Preselection

A new head of delegation, Jan Bors, is in charge of the Eurovision project in Czech national broadcaster Česká televize. Bors, who replaced on the Head of delegation post Radim Smetana, is known for the show "Game Page" broadcast by Czech Television. 29-years old Bors studied marketing communication and currently is in his third year as head script writer in the entertainment department of the Czech Television, responsible for a wide range of programs, such as "Pomozte dětem", "Cen paměti národa", or "Českých Lvů". He also leads the project "StarDance" for the second year. In a letter to Eurovision fans Bors says:

"When you say Eurovision, I imagine immediately a tremendous show, a lot of effort and a lot of fun. Year 2015 was remembered for the perfect vocal performances and great ideas, and I expect the same quality this year. I enjoy the competition and such a great tradition, constantly evolving forward. My desire is to build on the work of last year's team, once again presents to the world a competitive song. Our success in Austria, and I consider it as a great success, will be hard to repeat, let alone overcome, but I firmly believe that it is not impossible. Nevertheless, I hope that once again we will captivate viewers around the world and make a step higher. Last year showed how important factor is choosing the right song and the right person performing it. This year we plan to repeat the same method. Composers are already sending their songs to us, and it confirms that there is interest for Eurovision in the Czech Republic. I hope that we will be able to choose the best one and will go to Sweden with the a chance to succeed"

On 11 January it was revealed that ČT has shortlisted three songs as possible entries for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The national broadcaster is supposed to be holding a number of meetings in January to select the song that will represent the Czech Republic in Stockholm. "At the moment we have a narrow selection between the three entries, among them are represented both well-known personalities and young bands", confirmed ČT spokesperson Alžběta Plívová. "The name of the person who will represent the Czech Republic, will be announced soon. However, considering that the selection is not yet finished, and two out of three there will not be successful, we would not like to be more specific", she added.

Dasha Light & Love Thom Artway

According to MF DNES newspaper three candidates in the running are:
Thom Artway - 22 years old singer from Wallachia who has to his credit EP "Still Standing In The Unknown" released in 2013, and single "I Have No Inspiration" in 2015. He toured New Zealand and Australia and plans to release a debut album this year.
Light & Love- peers of Artway, brothers Honza and Lukáš Balcárkové come from Nový Jičín. Elder one, who calls himself Johny Rainbow, is producing material which he also does for other musicians, and younger one, Kosak, is responsible for the visual aspect of the band. This year they are also planning to release an album.
Dasha (Dagmar Sobková) - 34-years old singer has accompanied Karel Gott and Helena Vondráčková, and appeared mainly in musicals such as Angelika and Carmen. For the role of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar she won in 2010 Cenu Thálie award.

On 10 March 2016, song "I Stand" performed by Gabriela Gunčíková was announced by ČT as the Czech entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The song was originally submitted by the singer Dasha, who had announced on 16 February that she is 4-months pregnant and had to withdraw from the Eurovision considerations because of that.

Alone (Hearts), Love Hurts (Nazareth), Send Me An Angel (Scorpions), U & Ur Hand (Pink), Země vzdálená (BSP), Firework (Katy Perry), I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing (Aerosmith), Lásko má já stůňu (Helena Vondráčková), Cose della vita (Tina Turner & Eros Ramazzotti), Čaba neblázni (Elan), Amerika (Lucie), Lay All Your Love On Me (ABBA), Who Wants To Live Forever (Queen), Atlantida (Mira Žbirka), Listen to Your Heart (Roxette), We Don't Need Another Hero (Tina Turner) Livin' On a Prayer (Bon Jovi), Jednoho dne se vrátíš (Věra Špinarová)

Среди песен группы, в которых солировала Габриела: "Someday", "Not The Same" и "The Night Conceives".

Dasha Light & Love Thom Artway

EP "Still Standing In The Unknown" и в 2015 сингл "I Have No Inspiration".
Cenu Thálie.
